AFL Schools Cup - North Queensland Champions.

Last week we travelled to Mackay to compete in the AFL Schools Cup - North QLD Championships. I am proud to report we are still undefeated, no team has scored a goal against our team yet and we are the North Queensland Champions. The girls now have 2 months to prepare for the State Finals to be held in Maroochydore on the 18-20th October.

We played 3 games while in Mackay, we played the top teams from the Rockhampton, Mackay and Cairns regions. As per our Townsville competition, the girls defence was outstanding. I am pleased to mention Jayla Mow 's defence as our full back was a game changer. She is very strong, smart and cool under pressure in the defensive line. Baylee Gray was our main ruckman, and improved througout the day under tough competition. Mareikura Hills-Amory was a key player in all games, with composure beyond her years and valuable member of our team. Juliane Gurney was our main point scorer, however many of the girls conributed points to our totals.

The girls know what we need to improve on over the next couple of months and are committed to daily training at school. I look forward to reporting on our trip in October. Thank you to Mr K and Mrs Hodges who spent 10 hours on a bus with us, getting up at 3am and helping me keep the girls well hydrated, fed, in good spirits and rested. Thank you to Iziah Cutmore who helped run water for us in Mackay. Thank you to all our parents/family members who were able to travel down with us or in own cars to cheer us on and support the girls, it meant a lot to them. Stay tuned for more news soon. Yours in sport.
